Great entry for the challenge! ^^ Pretty good worldbuilding and well thought out. I could get a good picture of how it would look like. Also quite fun how they created a new version later on but in reverse :p   Also nice that you thought about giving the painting a bit of a hidden meaning as well.

Thank you! I had hoped to actually create the painting in time for the challenge, but it's going to have to wait. I think I'll post it in June if all goes well.

I was instantly transported back to academia reading this. That's a good thing. I really love the tone and mystery behind it, though I am inclined to believe Michael's theory.   I enjoy the reversal painting too. :D

Thank you so much! Yeah, this is a bit of backstory from The Boot of Destiny that I'd been meaning to fully explore and get out of my head for a while now. I was really psyched that the unofficial art challenge came along to give me the excuse.   I'm still hopeful I'll be working on recreating the paintings (both the original and the reversal) at some point.

Thanks, Emily! My hope is to actually create the painting and share it here soon. And the sequel painting was a fun idea from one of my novels (The Boot of Destiny). :-)

Congrats on your much-deserved win! I'm absolutely in love with everything about this painting, but my favorite part is Michael's The Temptress II: what a cool idea! (I also enjoy that Michael just let it all hang out!)

Oh, thanks so much. I can't wait to create both paintings (though I'll probably have to host the Michael version off-site, given that he lets it all hang out).

Thanks, man! It was a lot of work to get both of them to a place where I was happy, but I'm proud of it. Now: on to the comic—or my map, which is also sitting unfinished on my desktop, but probably the comic.
