ECC Bingo

The One Where You Plot Your Own E. Christopher Clark Story

Have you ever wanted to pen your own short story in the style of the ever-loving E. Christopher Clark?! Well, now you can. We’re pleased to present the official ECC Bingo Game! Chock-full of the clichés and tropes that make Chris’ stories so distinctive (and occasionally predictable), all you have to do to create your own is include all of the items in one column, row, or diagonal. Or go nuts and pick and choose your favorites from all across the board!

After all, we’re not the boss of you!

Author's Notes

This game was inspired by one I used to play with my Advanced Fiction students each spring. The idea was not to shame yourself, but to become aware of the things you tend to do a lot in your stories and then to actively decide whether those were going to keep being your things or if you wanted to use them more sparingly.

Also: credit where credit is due to Jenn Northington’s “Story Tropes Bingo for (Almost) Every Genre” for inspiring the original writing exercise.

I love this and I'm SUPER glad that you left self-deprecating humor off of it! You are too great for that! Our bingo cards are of course very similar, but mine would have "Florida Man", "Filipino", and "Things That Are Sharp" in there somewhere!
