Felix II
Felix II, King of Fatherland, was the last monarch of that place before it became part of the United Kingdom of Wonderland. A shrewd politician, he saw the writing on the wall that Frieda Jacobs would soon fulfill the prophecy and unite the seven kingdoms of the South under one banner. And because he saw this inescapable eventuality before anyone except perhaps Granny Goose, Felix parlay his foresight into a position in the new government.
In exchange for his unwavering support, of course.
Born Felix Christopher Klempner in 215, he was raised primarily by his father—and sometimes by one of the many mistresses his father took while his mother was away climbing mountains. A star pupil, both in the Frankburg school system and later at Yesterland Academy, he became one of the world’s foremost experts in both military tactics and diplomacy. In fact, it was said by many that he could recite from memory the whole of Kester Thidos’ famous treatis The Art of Adaptive Warfare. He was that good—and that devoted to his studies.
By the time he ascended the throne in 260, Felix had a decorated career as a general under his belt—including five years as commander of the Council of Five’s peacekeeping forces. Three years later, upon ceding control of Fatherland to Frieda Jacobs’ new United Kingdom, he became that country’s first Minister of Defence. And it was that position he held until his death.
I like this guy. Seems a bit of a shame that someone with actual sense didn't get to be king for long, but I suspect he preferred being Minister of Defence.
Yes, I think so. A lot of these back stories are coming to me as I write them, so, since I liked him, I decided to find a way to keep him around in the main story of the comic (by making him Minister of Defence).
