Arthur Worthing

Arthur Worthing was the father of the twins Mellie and Jenna Worthing. A psychotherapist by trade—a trained listener—he was quite loquacious in his private life. Considering himself something of an orator, Arthur gave beautiful and insightful speeches at the weddings of both his daughters—beautiful and insightful enough that no one complained (much) about how longwinded he was.

A son of the wealthy and WASPish Worthing family, Arthur was fiercely independent in his youth and determined to make it on his own. Though he later rekindled his relationships with his estranged family, his tumultuous relationship with bohemian Jane Jones (his daughters’ mother) nearly ended in him being disowned.
