The Laws of Clarkwoods Literary Universe

All magic and supernatural abilities are ultimately derived from The Waters of the River Without End. This substance is present in trace amounts in every moving body of water in existence, but is especially prevalent in the waterways of Eden.

Cosmology

As summed up in the article about The River Without End,

Each iteration of the universe ends when the River presses in on the universe until it is compressed into a single point of infinite density. A new iteration of the universe begins when the universe explodes outward against the River, expanding until it has reached some semblance of its former shape.

The one constant in the universe, the one place that is never destroyed or rebooted, is the purgatorial paradise of Eden—a land created by the goddess Phina to house the survivors of each collapsed iteration of reality while universe works on rebooting itself.

Principal Geography & Features

The universe during each iteration is astronomically and geographically identical to The Real World.

The world of Eden, is quite different. It is a small continent located at the center of existence and bordered on all sides by The River Without End. It was created by copying the most magnificent features of planets from across the cosmos, so as to make the survivors of each collapsed reality feel a little more at home.

Initial Active Setting

The latest story, The Blood of Seven Queens, begins in the southern region of Eden—a country which will one day be called Wonderland, and which is dominated by people and places which will eventually form the foundations of Earthling folklore and fairy tales.
