Reekian London | E. Christopher Clark

Reekian London

Reekian London is a faithful recreation of the Earthling city of London as it stood in the year 1904 of the Earth-666 iteration of reality. Built inside a dome and populated by android approximations of human beings, this uncanny replica was conceived as nothing more—nor less—than a science experiment.

Commissioned by The Democratic Republic of the Reek itself, the goal of the project was to determine what factors might have led a turn-of-the-century Londoner to unstick themself in time, change the past, and bring about a universe-ending Calamity.

Android facsimiles of 107,064 Earthling Londoners were built, based on information gathered from the Edenian Athenæum. They were then programmed to play out events from the year 1904–1905 on a loop, all while dwarven and kíndallan scientists watched their every move. And where did they watch from? Where did they hide to keep themselves from accidentally influencing events?

Big Ben, of course. The researchers holed themselves up inside the counterfeit clock tower of the phoney Palace of Westminster. Then they watched and watched and watched some more—all in the hopes of learning how to stop future Calamities before they could even begin.

Demographics

The city is populated entirely by androids and no other being is knowingly allowed inside. That said, the Neverlandian ne‘er-do-well Peter Pan and his fairy companion Tinker Bell visited frequently during the Second Age. The pair became quite fond of the Darling Family and once even led the children of that household on an excursion to Neverland.

In fact, it was Pan’s relationship with the eldest Darling child, Wendy, which led to the first and last permanent reduction in Reekian London’s otherwise steady population size. When Wendy joined the The Seven Voices and sang the six-hundred and sixty-seventh iteration of reality into being, she, like the other voices, was lost to this world and became naught but the stuff of legend.

After several attempts to recreate her, future scientists working on the project just gave up and rewrote the Darlings’ code to account for her absence.

Government

The citizens of Reekian London believe they are governed by an android version of Prime Minister Arthur Balfour and King Edward VII, but they are in fact subject to the laws of The Democratic Republic of The Reek.

Districts

Though the parts of London which Reekian London reproduces are as faithful as postapocalyptic records allowed for, only certain portions of the city have been built. The city is centered on the Palace of Westminster, and everything within a 2.5-mile radius is an accurate recreation. But beyond that? It’s just the dome and a projection of everything which would have existed beyond.

I'm getting Wandavision vibes from this, in a good way! Cool concept.

Thanks! Yes, now my master plan for how Alice, Wendy, and Dorothy end up in Eden is complete. And thus, I'm almost ready to to read Lost Girls!

WENDY WAS AN ANDROID ALL ALONG?!   This is such an interesting idea.

Thank you! I needed to explain a plot hole that had developed while I was developing my timeline (which is too convoluted to get into) and this was what came to me. I'm glad you liked it!
