Godless
The Covenant of the Godless is the largest and most well-known of the elven religions. The Godless teach that the creators of the universe were malevolent beings who created elves and other people as part of a sadistic power fantasy. According to tradition, these so-called “elder gods” were banished by the first elves—the Faegred. The Faegred, having decided that the sapient beings of the universe would be better off without evil deities meddling in their affairs, trapped their creators inside the Veil of the World.
Eventually, as is the case with all cults who grow into “organized” religions, there were schisms. One of the most notable splinter groups was the secret society known as The Ginger Cut, a group who was instrumental in the Edenian military conflict called the Nunyan Civil War. The Cut believe that the founders of the Godless were wrong to imprison the elder gods, and they have been working towards the release of their beloved deities ever since.
Another splinter group, albeit a much friendlier and more benevolent one, is Elind—a monastic order committed to the preservation of a peaceful and just universe.
